The Washington DC Design Center commissioned Charlotte to create a display in honor of Ann Hand—eponymous jewelry designer of the Washington political elite. For inspiration, Charlotte chose a single piece of her jewelry: a gold and pearl-rimmed eagle brooch with diamonds and sapphires.
In this lively sitting room arrangement, Charlotte pays homage to Americana using a palette of red, white, and blue along with an array of classical furnishings and decorative art, including a French Empire antique convex mirror, a military-style leatther campaign chair, 19th-century tramp art, and contemporary portraits (a cheeky throwback to official portrait sittings). Stately columns, candelabras, and brass fittings complete an original and irreverent look.
