Family was the focus of this home interior design project in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Already containing many wonderful family heirlooms and artwork, the owners of this classic Georgian-style home were eager to bring their living room to life with color. My goal was to create a backdrop that would be worthy of the beauty of this existing collection.
Staying true to traditional Georgian pastels, I chose to paint the walls with Farrow & Ball “Fowler Pink”—a muddy but rich old pink that flatters antiques with a modern aesthetic. Pillows were added for texture.
The powder room is the bathroom where you can be bold and experiment. My client’s family hails from the Veneto region of Italy, which provided the perfect backdrop to bring in a rich, bold Cole and Son wallpaper for the ground floor powder room. The powder room is one bathroom in a home where you can really experiment!
With the room's small size, I had to get creative with my design choices. My client wished to hang two nudes, but the wall space was limited, so we cleverly hung them on the back of the door.
